Hi Pete, long time no see. Cant say that I miss it and heaven knows other MLAs have kept up the party line in your absence. It has given me great pause, Pete. Some of the precepts and beliefs held by you and yours are foreign to me, others I am ashamed to say are not. You see, Pete, I was brought up in an executive household that while not vocally anti union was never supportive of them either. Personally I thought some of the things unions asked for on behalf of their memberships in the 70s and early 80s were nothing short of ridiculous. After all, Pete, sweatshops were a thing of the past and Norma Rae had long since driven her point home. And that is an attitude I pretty much held on to right up until the teachers strike, Pete. But, as Socrates is said to have stated, an Unexamined life is not worth living. So, I started examining the consequences of my long held precepts and beliefs. The only time I got excited about the possibility of an NDP government is when, as a young child, I overheard my parents talking about what would happen if the NDP won an election. They said that if that happened, Pete we would go back in time. As a young girl that concept held a lot of romantic appeal to me, Pete and I campaigned like crazy to my playmates in an attempt to have them sway their parents vote. So it is that I see in some of the comments made by yourself and other MLAs a mirroring of some of the beliefs I once held as true. I also thought that PACs were just an excuse for gossips to get together but thats another story, Pete and has nothing to do with you....or does it? Their role in keeping our Public Education afloat has certainly changed! One evening, three days after Christmas, my husband and I were on our way home from dinner with family and a newborn grandson. As we turned onto our street my husband said to me, More and more I am realizing there is no place to be but in present time. I know that we talked a little more before calling it a night but it was just the usual winding down the day stuff. Sometime towards morning he suffered a catastrophic stroke and never spoke again. Less than two days later he was gone. What were virtually his last words to me got me through some really tough spots, Pete. And so it is that you and yours have given me cause to examine the above beliefs in order to see if they hold up under the light of Present Time. You know what, Pete? They dont and I realize that I have played a part in keeping something in place that has no place in Present Time. Just a suggestion, Pete but......you may want to cross examine some of your beliefs in the light of Present Time! After all futures are created in present time and there are a lot of futures depending on us, Pete.
