Hi! This is our little Warrior Liam. He has rbpi. He was our first child and we had no idea about Erbs Palsy or Brachial Plexus injuries. He was born September 2012 and has made some improvement. He lifts his arm about 50% when standing. If he is laying down he can lift his arm over his head and bend his elbow. His hand and fingers havent improved much. His fingers bend but not often. Sometimes he bends his wrist backward when he plays. It worries me. Im 20 & my husband is 24, so we are a young family. Last weekend we were at a waterpark and a man walked up to us. He said,Is your son ok, his arm is just hanging there. I had no idea how to handle that type of situation. The emotions and feelings that I have from Liam getting this injury...well I feel heartbroken. I know you all understand these feelings. So I looked for these types of pages to help us on this journey. Im asking for tips on how to work with him, encouraging words and support. How did you handle your emotions? How do I give my son the confidence he needs? How do I prevent further injury to his injured arm? Is surgery a good idea? Sometimes he will bite his injured arm, did this happen with your child? Thank you for taking the time to read/comment. God bless you and your family on this journey.
