Hi Yvonne! Here is your Daily Feng Shui Tip by Ellen Whitehurst for Monday, April 21 Today we celebrate Kindergarten Day, in honor of Friedrich Froebel who was born on this date in 1782. Froebel started the first kindergarten in his home country of Germany in 1837. The schools premise was built upon a series of principles that used the innate curiosity and interests of children to guide them to see what Froebel believed to be the interplay and divine thread that is woven throughout all things. He saw this interconnectedness in song and play, which until his arrival on the school scene was unheard of as part of daily lessons. He believed in instructing kids in drawing, design, and other artistic endeavors while also ascribing to the Montessori-like adherence that learning through active doing and close contacts with the natural world was the fastest route to knowledge. In fact, many of the Froebel-inspired kindergarten classrooms had gardens that children tended to while also, Froebel believed, cultivating their own inner seeds that would soon bloom and grow. Even if your own children dont have a secret garden at school you can still help them to develop by putting healthy and green plants in their bedrooms.
