Hi Zane, Maybe this post will help or you could possibly give - TopicsExpress

Hi Zane, Maybe this post will help or you could possibly give me some advice on where I should start. I have an older sister whom Ive never met. My mom gave birth to her in her teen years. She was in a group home and an older gentlemen took advantage of her and she got pregnant. My mom has a diagnosis of mild to moderate mental retardation. She can function physically but mentally is a different story. Shes unable to comprehend normal things that me and you may understand. In order for her to understand certain situations, it has to be broken down to her like a child. And even then, sometimes she doesnt understand. This is why it has made it easy for others to take advantage of her in the past. Not anymore though, as soon as I got old enough and stable, I took on the responsibility of caring for her. Shes the sweetest person in the world and will give you the shirt off her back and I refuse to let anyone else take advantage of her. Back to my sister...my grandmother decided to take guardianship over my mom but for some reason (I dont know the whole story) my mom was forced to give my sister up for adoption while she was a young toddler. Of course the adoption was closed. Apparently this broke my moms heart. No one in my family really knows all the details and my grandmother passed away years ago. When I was younger I asked my grandmother about my sister but the only thing she could tell me was the last name of the family who adopted her. Their last name was Brown. My sisters name was Audricka (not sure if thats spelled correctly). Im not sure if the family decided to change her first name. This all happened in Kansas City, Missouri. I have no birthday or any other information. My mom cant tell me her birthday (it was long ago and with her mental illness, she doesnt comprehend actual dates) She would be in her late 30s now. I guess Im just hoping the right person will read this....with limited information I dont know what else to do or where to start. Thank you so much for posting, and I do apologize for the lengthy email. I just wanted to be as detailed as possible. MY RESPONSE: I hope it helps to have this on my page.
