Hi all, As college students (or post-college students) we - TopicsExpress

Hi all, As college students (or post-college students) we frequently think that we’re not susceptible to disease and/or sickness. The reality is that our DNA sometimes has different plans for us, for some, it may be a death sentence. I know we’re an International Studies/Political Science group, but I believe that because we are the future (some of us) of politics, humanitarian missions, and non-profit organizations we have to be aware of everything including Health issues. I have been working for the Alzheimer’s Association for over a year now as an Intern and I can honestly say that it has shaped my career path as well as my concern with health issues. A couple weeks ago, some of you may have noticed Seth Rogan, one of our Celebrity champions (advocates) spoke at a hearing in front of the Senate Appropriations Committee and I think it’s safe to say that politicians have a long way to go when it comes to listening about health issues in our country (ACA debate issues, lack of funding, lack of research support…etc…). Anyway, I’m inviting you all to like our page for further information about this heart-wrenching disease and so that you can inform yourself about what it really is (facts & figures) and what caregivers really go through– it’s only for the Alzheimer’s disease but maybe we can start educating ourselves one disease at a time. P.S. Keep in mind AD doesn’t only occur in America, it’s a world-wide thing and it keeps getting worse. Its an epidemic. Now, can you imagine what patients in countries with no resources go through? Thanks for reading!
