Hi all, CONTEST STARTS TODAY........ ENDS SUNDAY Welcome to the next journey in our quest relay! This relay is in it’s 3rd stage. The baton was passed to me and I have chosen the next quest. It is a quest for all levels, no divisions. Beginners have as great a chance to win as our seasoned gardeners. You do NOT have to be a Club Member. Remember, do not use cash décor as part of your clue. We want to keep this a quest that everyone can participate in. Cash decor will not be a factor but creativity will! The contest is quite different this time. I’m asking for photos that have a double meaning. (i.e. I am looking for photos that cause neighbors to smile, to laugh, to just say aaahhhhhh.) An example for an “ahhh, or, I get it” is the first photo at the bottom of this post. The title of this one is “More pi anyone?” Using this example, you could add the American Flag and place it on the left of one of these pi symbols and it would reference the song, “American Pie” You could use red white and blue flowers and décor instead of the flag. Another option for you to consider would be to spell out a word with your flowers next to an item that relates to your riddle. You could place gazing balls around a fire to reference the song, “Great Balls of Fire”. The second photo was taken by Mary Ann T. Anderson who so graciously let me use it as another example. This could represent a pun such as “Car Plot” vs. Car Lot. You can use any theme you wish as long as you are referencing a well known book, song, phrase, movie, pun, word play, rebus, etc. Maybe you’ll be lucky and catch a photo of the wildlife that could be a clue to the answer. Your entry can be serious to lighthearted as long as you follow the rules. The list goes on. Don’t be so vague that your point is missed entirely but try to make us use our heads to catch the answer hidden within your photo. You may even want to add a one word comment to put us in the right frame of mind. An example could be, music genre, movie, song, quote, etc. just to get us on the right track. I wouldn’t advise any clues at first unless our guesses are coming up short. Don’t make it too easy. We all love to be challenged with our minds. You may wish to title your pic or just let the pic speak for itself. You may even want to title your picture with the exact meaning of you picture but you may loose points as I rate other entries. Of course I will be looking at the rest of the garden and interesting camera shots, but the most important part will be your “photo riddle”. With this neighborhood quest, I hope to see the wonderful participation I’ve seen in all previous challenges. Make me laugh! Make me use my noggin’. Surprise me! The sky is the limit. Just be creative and have fun! Lord help me! I hope to live up to this task and still be sane afterward. Wait, I’m way past sane. Be sure we are friends and neighbors! Do not send me more than two entries. I highly recommend you post practice photos on the neighborhood page and have your neighbors start guessing but you need to send your 2 favorite entries to me personally by Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. CST, tagging my name and stating the photo is your entry for the contest. It needs be entered as follows, Carla Marlin Photo Contest. If it’s not too much trouble, add your level as well. This contest will begin Wednesday, September 10th and will conclude at 4 pm. on Sunday, September14th. Central Standard Time. I will recognize time zone differences. There will be a very nice cash prize for the winner, plus the winner gets to choose the next quest and take on the fun responsibility of being in charge -
