Hi all Every time, after I clown in the hospital, I come back home thinking this has been my best clowning experience ever. But nothing can be better, than what happened today I knock on a room, peek in & ask them Would you like a visit from the Hospital Clown. There was this 2 month old baby sound asleep, while the Mom, Dad, Aunt, Grandma & few others were sitting there -- Depressed & Sad. Suddenly, the 4 year old sister of the baby comes to me jumping & laughing -- while the elders were not sure about letting me come in. I pat the 4 year girls head and say , I need to go since her baby brother is sleeping. She starts pleading her mom to make me NOT go & they reluctantly ask me to come in. I put a clown nose on the Grandma (who by now had a smile on her face) and the entire family start laughing out loud. Very soon, everybody in the room is laughing, with a RED Clown nose on them and are posing with me for photographs. During all this commotion, the baby wakes up ! What happens next is just beyond surreal - The Mom picks up the baby & places her 2 month old beautiful Baby in my hands. She then puts the Funny RED Clown Nose on the babys tiny tiny nose. The baby is not in a good health, to say the least about its condition, but is wide awake & looking at me. I start making silly, funny, goofy sounds & the baby ACTUALLY smiles !! Photographs are clicked & a tearful grandma comes to me and kisses my cheeks & says Thank you for blessing my Baby Goose Bumps, Tears in my eyes, trembling hands & and all kinds of butterflies in the stomach .. I just dont know how to describe what I was feeling !! As an over-protective Dad of a 2 year-old son -- I am still wondering What is it about hospital clowning -- that an entire family -- especially a Mom could trust me (a total stranger in a goofy clown costume) & place their dearest baby (in such a condition) in my hands !! And then, one of the Uncle says this to me -- Thank You !! Even if the baby does not survive, that picture of Huggy Bear holding the smiling baby, will make him alive for us -- Forever !!
