Hi all. First off Im excited to be a part of this group so thank you for including me. My apologies for jumping right in requesting guidance but I’m frustrated with my setup. I thought I had figured it out, but I’m getting horrible digital garble in many cases. I’m using Adobe Audition and here’s my situation. 1. I left a support call with Focusrite as I think I might be a bad USB connection given the symptoms. 2. I have a newer Macbook with (hopefully) plenty of speed so I dont think thats the issue. It’s possible that updating to OSX Mavericks is the problem but I’m waiting to hear back. 3. One interesting thing is that when I plug in my monitor speakers to output 1 and 2 on the back they levels are adjustable by the monitor knob on the 6i6 BUT whnen I plug them into the 3/4 outputs they run hot at blasting levels with no control and I have to unplug them immediately! 4. I’ve downloaded all drivers and firmware updates I can think of… including my Airport Extreme. 5. I know many of you mix down in real time but I’m most comfortable with multi track recording at this point. I won’t have guests in my studio or co hosts so I’m ok with a nimble setup. 6. If I don’t get a mixer it’s evident that I’ll need a preamp to boost the Heil. Am I missing anything here or am I severely limiting myself by NOT getting a mixer? I’ve been reading about mix minus but am not sure if it’s a MUST HAVE? Are there ANY recommendations to improve my setup?
