Hi all! Here is the email I received from Denver this morning: Found and banded 3 of the 4 chicks. The youngest was there, and we missed (could not locate) one of the oldest. So I think all 4 still going strong. Several ducks wings in the nest. They are moving further away however. Will look for the last chick on Saturday. Also, a fun side note is that the volunteer, Nagruk r. harcharek from Umiaq, has history with Denver and the Owl Research Institute. Twenty years ago, a young twelve year old Nagruk stole a snowy owl chick from the nest. Denver was made aware of the incident when the young boys family turned him in. Nagruk and Denver returned the chick to the nest. Boys life did a feature article on him. Now, twenty years later, Nagruk is one of the directors of Umiaqs science program and is volunteering his time on the Snowy Owl project. :)
