Hi all! Hey, I just had a very meaningful conversation with a dear friend who also struggles with painful health conditions. She inspired me with her vulnerability and transparency. I would like to do the same... If you talked to my closest colleagues and friends, I am sure they will tell you I do not hide my pain. In fact, I think my pain has molded me into a very intense personality, so much so that I think I scare away or intimidate some people. I am an open book, trusting everyone with everything...I have struggled recently to be more cautious and guarded. On the other hand, I firmly believe God has used me in the lives of others throughout my 33 year journey with pain. Only recently I met a young person with one of the same afflictions as me. We had coffee once a week before school last year. I found out in May she would be attending a camp for arthritic kids this summer, the same camp I went to as a child. Long story short: my childhood doc, who is still in charge of the camp, asked me to come as a guest speaker. He asked that I bring my family and my violin, wanting to show the campers that anything is still possible in their future. After an unforgettable time at camp, I was contacted by the the Arthritis Foundation Fundraising division in Colorado to come speak at a major event in October. We will be raising funds for a doctor who has discovered a genetic sequence related to Rheumatoid Arthritis, and who believes he has developed a supplement to give children who have this marker, quite possibly children like my own Abbey and Isaac. He will use the funds raised to complete human trials. In my conversation with my friend, I encouraged her to keep sharing because you never know how God will use your story. I am sorry that anyone must endure any pain at all, but I am also thankful to her for reminding me today that I am not alone. Thanks for reading, friends, and for being in my life. Know that I love and pray for you often!
