Hi, all, I would like to say a great thanks to everyone who came out today to Argostoli to show their support for Kefalonian culture, entertainment, and fun.. Also big thanks to all those friends far away who sent support via emails, texts, and phone calls.. Thanks also to Kyrie Kekatos for making the time to see us all and listen.. Despite a tempestuous initial meeting with a great turn out - I think Mr Kekatos was a bit surprised at the amount of people- a small group of us had a second meeting later on where we explained the issues: major of them 1- When receiving complaints from callers asking the police to go to where the call is being made to: A) verify the caller is an authentic B) Measure the noise complaint at the place of the complaint to verify there is indeed a problem C) if there is a problem to give the venue in question the opportunity to address the issue.. This will also discourage people with an axe to grind from making potentially dangerous time wasting calls to the police.. 2) Sensible and realistic Latitude: Allowing venues to have music and entertainment until a civilised time (12:00am being the general consensus) before noise complaints and compliance enforcement occurs.. Understanding that the law as written is vague in places regarding enforcement and sound measurement and with this in mind respecting the ability of businesses to provide entertainment to their customers and respecting the paying tourists ability to seek out and enjoy the entertainment provided.. 3) Promoting art, music, and culture music, dancing, and gathering together provides to tourists and natives alike. People choose Kefalonia year after year for their holidays and having those tourists and new ones coming back again should be our aim as an island community. A Brief report that will be written by Dionysis -- who was brilliant-- from Ostria music bar will be presented today to Mr Kekatos via email and upon receiving said email will have a discussion with the chief of police regarding the matter.. We are optimistic.. I will let you know what happens from here, but in any case we think we have made good progress..
