Hi all. This is only my second year teaching so Im still pretty new to everything. I teach Grade 1. There have been several changes this year since the beginning of school. I now have a new student who although is not formally diagnosed fits the ASD criteria. He just started with our class last week. He uses choice works on his iPad to help him with a first/next/then. I also have a visual schedule posted for the class at the front of the room. I do not have any support in my room so this limits the amount of 1 on 1 attention I can give to all students (my group is fairly low). He has some verbal skills and is learning to write his name and some words. Im struggling as to how to make his transition easier for him and to make sure I am supporting him in the best way I can when creating my programming. Any suggestions??
