Hi all, You may remember Gabby Florek from choir a while back. This is what shes been up to lately as part of her drama studies. Shed love to see you at Blacktown on Dec 18 or 20. “Seedlings” is a 20 minute movement piece, created by students from the University of Sydney. It explores themes of immigration, the refugee experience and reconciliation. As an extension of the show, art installations featuring drama students from Western Sydney and the University of Sydney will pop up over Blacktown before each show. It’s a free show and there is no need to book in advance. Open to all ages. Incidentally, the garden in which Seedlings will be performed is located right in front of Bowman Hall, in which Whitlam launched his historic Its Time Campaign. abc.net.au/news/2014-03-10/whitlams-blacktown-speech-1972/4379058 This is a big experiment and an important project. Please help spread the word :) It would be lovely to see you there! -- We speak different languages, have different rituals and hear different songs, but we live on the same land. A move to a new country is often fraught with isolation and loneliness as much as it may be with joy. We build things anew and we nurture what is vulnerable. We need reconciliation and community: let’s build a garden For those who live in Blacktown and have made Westpoint your regular hangout, we ask you to look at familiar spaces in new ways. Keep an eye out for invitations. For those who are visiting for the first time, we ask you to catch the train. Enjoy the journey there, arrive early, explore the city and watch the novelty before the show. Place: Village Green, Campbell Street, Blacktown, across the road from the Library. Show dates: Thursday 18th and Saturday 20th of December 12pm, 3pm and 5pm
