Hi all, we have been staying up in the mountains of Tuscany for the past several weeks. Escaping the heat and the mozzies of the lowlands. No internet though until now. Been having a great time. For the first time in my life i was collecting mushrooms normally only collectable in Scotland in Sept or October here in July. A mushroom foray in early July saw me return with a large basket with Chanterelles, Porcini, Horn of Plenty and Hedgehogs ( the orange rufescans species ) Now were collecting the first blackberries of the season as well as elderberries. I have seen golden eagles here, normally not noticed by the locals as well as the more common short toed eagles and plentyful buzzards. Spotted a different species of buzzard the other day attacking a common buzzard but did not get a good enough view of it to positively ID it. Our friend staying here recons he got a glimpse of a wolf yesterday. I would SO much like to see one. I need to get up earlier...or better still sleep out in the forest. We visited friends in the elfi community the other day and Oliver, Hazel and myself slept on the trampoline in the forest. Comfortable and exciting. :) I went on a huge walk a couple of days ago alone and found an old man 83 years old who had been living hidden away in the forest in an old stone house an hours walk from the nearest road all alone for thirty years. A beautiful man who spoke English pretty well too, looking forward to visiting him again and learning from that well of wisdom. Anyway...will be on line a little more now. Big love to all. xxxx
