Hi everyone! First – a big thank you to everyone who has - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone! First – a big thank you to everyone who has welcomed sometimes shy and qwerky ‘me’ into the group, and of course to Jason the ever gracious and generous host. Second – an apology to the dude I called judgmental yesterday. That was not at all edifying or Christ-like and I am sorry. I should I discussed/expressed myself rather than flippantly said that. My very first game night I arrived with one of my favorite games. I only knew one person and was feeling rather unsure of myself, but was definitely not tied to playing anything in particular. A guy came along, looked down at the game I was holding, looked me straight in the face and said, “there’s no way I’d EVER play that”, then turned and walked away. That was the most direct time I felt judged at a game night, but there have been other ones and I guess what was said yesterday put me over the edge. If a person prefers to play strategy games – that’s great. Would you please call them that and not call everything else “bad” games? People have different gifts (here: strategy, visual/perception, speed, creativity, social, teamwork, knowledge/trivia). As a Christian myself, I know that we are all gifted differently so that we make one body to work together and each part is important to the working of the whole. Also, sometimes a person might come to a game night super tired and want something less or more simulating, or might come with a purpose other than yours – to cultivate relationships. I keep these things in mind when I attend a game night and I hope that you will too. We’re at game night to have fun!!! 3rd…… And, as in all things, we’re here to live for Christ. I am not from Substance Church, and therefore held back a bit when there was a discussion on how to “creatively” get into a local Fair for a reduced rate. I was surprised when only two of us spoke up, but no one else even in the awkward silence that followed. I am certainly far from perfect (yesh!) and I’m not bringing this up to make anyone feel bad. Rather, I want to remind ya’ll to BE ENCOURAGED to practice standing up for right and truth. It’s a whole lot easier to practice when you are around fellow believers.
