Hi everyone! I dont have an elder bun but I do have a young bun called Odin who is going through some bad weight issues. When I first rescued him, he was already underweight at 2.1kgs. He is now critically underweight at 1.4kgs. He fell very ill yesterday and was taken to the vet. He is a dental bun and due to an overgrown tooth that caused an ulcer, he stopped eating and drinking. He became so dehydrated that he started going into gut stasis and his veins collapsed. He was so close to death. But thankfully he cane round after going to the vets and is now on a special diet to help him gain weight! I was told to come here by someone from the House Rabbit Society as apparently you guys are very experienced in underweight bunnies! Starting today, Odin will get 1/2 a cup of oats with critical care mixed in, and 1/4 cup of pellets that have absorbed some watery critical care. Of course along with that is unlimited timothy & meadow hay, fresh veg and fresh water. I need advice though. I struggled to help him gain/maintain weight when I adopted him hence why hes so poorly now. Help is greatly appreciated!
