Hi everyone! Im Claire, Im from Los Angeles, California, and Im coming to Wesleyan to study film. (Oh the irony.) Other subjects Im interested in studying are Art History, Theatre, Astronomy, and especially English since Im thinking of going into screenwriting. My New Years resolution this year was to watch 365 full-length feature films in 2014, and so far Im keeping up with that goal, so if any of you want to talk movies Id be so down for it. (Psst, join Letterboxd. Its great for that sort of thing.) Im especially a fan of animation - the behind-the-scenes featurettes on Disney and Pixar DVDs are what got me interested in filmmaking in the first place. I normally pick Lost in Translation as my favorite film of all time, but I also love science fiction films like WALL-E and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Favorite writers include Ray Bradbury, Virginia Woolf, Emily Bronte, and Anthony Burgess. These days I tend to read collections of short stories and poems as opposed to novels, but recently a friend lent me a copy of The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and although Ive only managed to crack through the first 100 pages Im really enjoying it. Oh, and John Greens pretty cool, too. DFTBA. Id say I have a pretty broad music taste, but favorites include Arcade Fire, Led Zeppelin, The Civil Wars, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the xx, CHVRCHES, and LCD Soundsystem. And P!nk, when Im in the mood for something more poppy. I can play guitar a little bit, and I keep telling myself that someday I should learn piano, but so far it hasnt happened yet. Im a foodie who takes a lot of pictures at restaurants (I should really get an Instagram), my favorite restaurant is Busboys & Poets in Washington DC, and my Tumblr username is wildlark, if you want to follow me. Anyways, I cant make it to Wesfest but I hope to meet all of you awesome people in the fall! Fellow Angelenos, we should hang out sometime :)
