Hi everyone! Its uplifting to see an elderly member of the society who has been inflicted with a life altering condition still hold on to their passion for life. Our dear Cass is such a case. Nicknamed our Baby Seal this 10 yr old pudgy little lady has plenty of sparkle and pizzazz to wow her next family. Back in 2013 we found ourselves in a position to help an overflowing shelter by taking in a number of dogs and help them find a new home. Cass was one of many we were able to help at that time. However we were shocked to see her waddle in our doors as a stray on 5/26/14 but were hopeful shed quickly rejoin her family as we traced her chip and tried contacting the owner. However attempt after attempt left us realizing her family would not come to rescue. With her fur overgrown, crusty eyes, and a rash on her belly we thought maybe this was for the best and went to work on giving this golden girl a complete makeover to jump start her new life. First things first we began by giving her a full senior exam complete with bloodwork, x-rays, and an echocardiogram. We found that she has some corneal clouding along with the crusty eyes so she has been treated with cyclosporine eye meds and artificial eye drops. Her exams also shed light on her heart. Per our Vet Cass is currently is in congestive heart failure secondary to an enlarged heart and mitral valve disease. At this time she is tolerating medications to help her continue to spread her love to the world. Now no makeover is complete until you receive a new haircut! After a refreshing groom Cass transformed in to a new woman and gives a great example to the phrase big is beautiful as she has no shame in showing off her Buddha belly for tummy rubs as you can see in this videos: youtu.be/Lsw3y57Q8Ws youtu.be/_qa2s9VuItg Along with her unbelievable cuteness Cass holds on to her goofy charm and easy going attitude. She feels shes done enough traveling around in this world and wed love to see her be able to settle down with a loving family thatll provide her the best years of her life! Due to her medical condition we are having difficulty in finding a home that can fulfill this dream so we are seeking help from our rescue friends! If you can help our Baby Seal please contact me ASAP! Thanks so much, Carrie Sibert SLCO Animal Services [email protected]
