Hi everyone, I’m pleased to say we’re home! I feel really tired and am struggling to stay awake but wanted to let you all know myself. I had an ok night and despite a bit of a disaster when removing my PICC line as the clip they’d used is new and nobody knew how to get it out from under the skin, we were able to come home. Eventually we found someone who did and out came the clip - only after a lot of tugging on the clip under my skin which was painful. The new Hickman line is purple - I must admit I’ve not seen a Hickman like this before - but it is working well. Unusually for me, my chest and neck are very sore where they put in the line (I don’t normally find it painful, just a bit stiff) and where the old one was taken out and I’m covered in dressings on that side. I was so upset on Wednesday when my line didn’t go ahead. After all the worry of me vomiting all morning only to pick up a bit, enough to have my line put in, then for the agency nurse having no sense of urgency and an inability to understand and be understood leading to me missing my slot, you can guess I was not happy. But the line’s in now. The autonomic shock episode was scary, just another sign of how much my body is struggling. I’m still losing blood in my urine but my haemoglobin is stable at the moment. Lots going on and I feel quite poorly but I’m so grateful to my team; you all, my friends; and to mum for staying with me. I will try and catch up on facebook and messages over the next few days, so please bear with me. I just want to thank you all for your support, mum read me some of the comments on her posts and what can I say? I am privileged to know you all. Lucy xxx
