Hi everyone! Looks like Facebook figured out Im not actually a real person and forced me to turn into a page! So now that you know.. I guess now would be an appropriate time as ever to let you all know that there are currently a total of TEN (10) Academic Awards that can apply for: ************************************************ 1. Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Concordia Community This award is given to students who have created a sense of community at Concordia by contributing to Student Life and can demonstrate that their efforts have had a positive impact on the Concordia community. The winner of this award will receive $300. Four (4) awards are given out. 2. Award for Academic Achievement This award is designed to recognize Arts and Science students who have excelled in their Academic Career here at Concordia. The winner of this award shall receive $300. Four (4) awards will be given out. 3. Damon Hartung Award This award was created to honour Damon Hartung who contributed to ASFA for three (3) amazing years and demonstrated a dedication to his community through the creation of new projects. Applicants interested must have contributed to the Arts and Science community through novel additions to student/academic life whilst having maintained strong academic standing. The winner shall receive $600. One (1) award is given out. Candidates for these three awards must submit: CV, GPA (Academic Transcript), and a Cover Letter explaining why you think you deserve the award. Send all applications to: [email protected]. Deadline will be March 30th at Midnight. *********************************************** Lastly we have the: 4. The CODOC Human Rights Documentary Scholarship This Scholarship was made possible through the combined efforts of several campus groups from Concordia University and Mcgill University (JHR Concordia, JHR McGill, CUTAM, ASFA). In March of 2012, under the management of former president of JHR Concordia, Damiano Raveenthiran, the funds for this scholarship was collected by profits made through the first Canadian screening of CODOCs Human Rights Documentary entitled The Truth That Wasnt There at Concordia University. This scholarship has been created to encourage young filmmakers and journalists to cover Human Rights issues that they are passionate about. This scholarship is dedicated to every individual that was affected by the civil war in Sri Lanka. Candidates for this one (1) award must: Submit a First Cut of their documentary addressing Human Rights issues of you choice. It must be 10-40 minutes long, submitted in a YouTube format (Unlisted Video), and must contain a full story (beginning, middle and end). You will also have to fill out a form that answers a number of questions about your documentary. Forms are available at our office 2070 Mackay. There will be no GPA Requirement for this award.
