Hi everyone Thank you for your kind well wishes and prayers while I was in LA. I have returned safely and am all fired up to take on the rest of the year. The first part of my trip was spent with my best friend, Gretchen who flew in from Portland, Oregon on the same day I arrived. We spent the first 4 days exploring the streets of Venice and Santa Monica. I felt like I was in a 60’s movie. There were old cars, graffiti on the walls, strangely dressed people and even a real Freak Show. It was a time warp, not at all the America we imagine. The upside of this part of the USA is the great vegetarian restaurants filled with divine, organic dishes…no Starbuck or McDonalds in sight. We also caught the Hop on Hop off bus to Hollywood and Beverley hills and walked (did not shop) in the most expensive road in the world- Rodeo Drive. What I learnt: · Even in the USA there are backward places. Sometimes what looks backward is going forward e.g. they are concerned about the planet etc. · Quality time spent with a friend is priceless. · There are boots for R20 000! Why? Then it was off to MegaPartnering USA. What an amazing experience with truly incredible, accomplished people. Who impressed me the most? 1. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the very person I was least excited to see. He has a story well worth reading up on. Talk about a vision and using visualization to get him from Austria to Hollywood to being Govenor of LA. It takes more than muscles! After his speech he smiled for 2 hours while taking 700 photo’s. schwarzenegger/film 2. For a really amazing story about a true visionary check out this site. This man, Roberto Dutesco has made a life, a mobile museum, an educational program and much more from the wild horses of Sable Island. dutescoart/the-collection/ 3. Donna Karon, from DKNY, lost her mother, father and husband to cancer. She is an incredibly real person, with a heart for helping people. 4. Nic Halik- a Thrillionaire who has been an astronaut, diver, slept in the pyramids of Giza alone and many more exciting things, all stories told in the adventures of Tin-Tin (Kuifie) There were loads more incredible people, authors, actresses etc but when all is said and done I was most inspired by the humble, humility of the real leaders versus the brassy boasting of the ‘wanna-be famous.’ · At the end of the day it is all about what we can do for mankind, what legacy we will leave for generations to come. · I promise you, that having a vision, which you hold in your head and heart every day, coupled with hard work and good ethics will guarantee you the achievement of your goal, whatever it is. · There are miracles and epiphanies beyond our wildest imagination, like the American Idol’s winner, Taylor Hicks who opened Mega partnering with his story…the last taxi out of Hurricane Katrina lead him to winning American idols. I was very proud to be representing South Africa and you can be very proud to be a South African. The Americans experience us as REAL and GENUINE. They were appreciative of our efforts to make the long trip to be there. They were friendly, warm and very hospitable. My ‘miracle moment’ …came on the last morning of the conference. I was sitting next to a guy, listening to a guy speak about writing one’s own book. So many of my clients have such amazing messages to share with the world that I was most interested. To cut a long but amazing story very short, I will be facilitating David Marshall, the guy who sat next to me, a publisher in arranging 2 workshops in SA, in September, for those really dedicated to writing their own book. The whole process is unique and I am blessed and excited to have been invited to become part of it. Writing a book has always been on my horizon, and suddenly it has come into scope, a possibility, a reality. My conclusion on LA: · If your gut says ‘do it,’ just do it. · If you are in a state of joy and excitement it is right for you · If you have a purpose to fulfill, the opportunities will present themselves, it only requires that you recognize them, accept them and them work hard towards achieving your purpose. · Everything that glitters isn’t gold. Never compromise your values for money or fame. You are perfect as you are. My favourite place was the Getty Museum, built by oil magnet Paul Getty, for the public. $1 billion and the entrance is free…..what a lovely legacy. Loads of love Mel Next Performance Booster Training in Nelspruit: 23 and 24th August. Please tell your friends and add value to their lives!
