Hi everyone! There is something I have to tell you guys. Some of you probably already know from my husband at work today about what happened to me. The next 3-4 months is going to be very difficult for me and my husband. This time yesterday I had just checked into a hotel to stay for the night, thinking I would be able to keep my appt I had for today. I was going around my car to the passenger side to get a box out I had in the front seat. After I retrieved it, I spot checked where the curb was (it was a median that had plants and wood chips with at least a 5" thick curb) and was getting ready to step down when my right foot gave way and I ended up on my hands and knees cringing in pain. It took me a few minutes to get to where I could try to get up with other people around me to help out. When I try to move my left foot I knew something was very wrong with it. I then situated myself to sit and my worst fears was revealed before my eyes; I asked for someone to call an ambulance. The ambulance crew arrived, got an iv site started to load me up with pain mediation, braced my left ankle, and loaded me up to take me to Mercy hospital. After x-rays were taken, I was told that on my left foot, it broke in two places and went backwards (OUCH!!!) and on my right foot, the outer toe area is fractured with an ankle sprain. So, reset my left ankle, they had to give meds to knock me out, for which I am very grateful for that, and cast it. For my right foot, I was given shoe boot. So now, to be able to get around the house from bed to chair and bathroom, I now have a set of crutches, a wheelchair, BSC, and shower chair. Was able to get in today to see Paul Powers at Duncan Orthopedics, and oh boy! I was able to see the fractures in both feet, and he said for sure I will have to have surgery on the left foot/ankle and possibly the right foot, too. I will see Dr. Giles next week and talk further about when to do the surgery. Right now, I need to elevate, elevate, elevate, and ice, ice, ice. Prayers will be much appreciated for strength, laughter, endurance, peace, guidance and comfort during the next few weeks and months for recovery, surgery, and possibly rehab, which I request it. God bless you all!
