Hi everyone, Today Alyssa wanted to go to the Melbourne Museum so we packed her cough assist and went to the Museum. The cough assist machine needs to go everywhere with her as she has a weak cough reflex so she cant clear her own airways so she needs the machine to go everywhere she goes because when you or I have a tickle in our throats we move it on our own but someone like Alyssa cant move secretions or saliva from her throat. Thank goodness we advocated for it 9 years ago and had it introduced to the Royal Childrens Hospital where its now helping other children with SMA and other illnesses Australia wide. It has saved our daughters life a number of times and is referred to by some the miracle machine. We bought the first one because we knew it worked and helped kids with SMA as our American SMA friends had one already. Here are some pics from the Museum :-)
