Hi everyone We hit Pittwater again today and what a brilliant day - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone We hit Pittwater again today and what a brilliant day to be on the water. We found catching squid very difficult again with only one lone squid caught in 3 hours. After an endless amount of casting the boiling schools of kingfish was too much and we headed over with what we had. The kings are pretty wary of boats at the moment and a stealth approach is needed . It took about 30 minutes to get our first hit and this occurred on a frozen squid! The next keeper was found about 15 minutes later and this time it was the live bait that was preferred. A further 30 minutes passed and again a frozen squid was hit and this time the king found some rough ground to lose us in. Both fish that were caught today were over 70 cm and most of the fish that were seen are around the 70 cm mark. The morning bite this morning happened more toward the mouth of the river so these kingfish schools are moving quite a bit. For your best chance at catching a kingfish this weekend I suggest that you catch a few yellowtail as well as a squid or two. I hope they bite their heads off again for everyone but they still seem to be stuck on the small 1 cm baitfish. I hope this report helps. Best wishes Peter
