Hi everyone, sorry for the late update, last night was a bit of a manic one and I didnt get in until late. I was way too tired when I got in to write an update so I do apologise for that. I know everyone who was there last night understands how grateful Jo and I were for all of your hard work, but I want to say thank you again and again and again, last night would have been a nightmare if it wasnt for you lot. As we were sorting donations last night and getting all of the outreach stuff ready for this Saturday, we had an unexpected visit from the head of Angels of the North, who let us use their warehouse space, where we were told that unfortunately we would no longer be able to use the space they had very kindly let us store all of our donations in, since November. Obviously this put a very big strain on our night and will massively effect the next few weeks until we get somewhere else sorted. We were given notice of 48 hours, so it was all hands on deck to get everything packed up and ready to go, where we did not know. As Jo and I started to run through some options in our heads, the girls informed the rest of the people who were there helping. This is where #teamMWW once again jumped to it and just got everything sorted. By the time I had come up with some sort of plan, the team had already packed pretty much everything away into what boxes we had and had sorted somewhere to store it all, with various other options. If theres one thing #teamMWW has proven over the last few months, its that we can overcome whatever hurdles are put in our way and come out of the other end feeling positive, knowing we have still made a difference, no matter how difficult it was for us. It was like a hive of activity last night, everyone just got stuck in and worked together to get everything packed up quicker than you would ever imagine. For those of you who have seen base, you will know just how much stuff we have and how much there is to pack away. Huge thanks to Adam and Luca Kane from Easilet, who were on the phone straight away and found us a storage unit where we could keep a huge bulk of the stuff boxed up. Also massive thanks to Tony wright, who was straight on the phone to some contacts he has to see if they can find us a long term solution. I also have to say a huge special thank to Kate Boardman, who called her church warden (who appeared as if by magic in his range rover and took bags of Unsorted donations, as well as another car load, back to Kates church in Gateshead, where she has also offered to sort through some of them with the help of some of her church members. Also thanks to Davey Falcus at the Ashington Life Center, who has also offered to take a load of our stuff for us. Such a fantastic help, all of you!! So this morning it is all go, I have my little girl all day and I dont drive so my husband has rallied up all the lads he knows with vans, and they will be going over to pick everything up. Unfortunately the first storage place we had have said they are unable to take it, so the fantastic Adam and Luca Kane have found another place, which costs £70 for one week and have offered to pay the bill. When my husband was speaking with them, he offered to pay for it but they wouldnt let him and insisted they would pay for it, so my husband has offered to pay for a second unit if we need it. We werent sure if al of the stuff would fit in the first place we had so we were going to have to take some of it to other places but this way we can keep it all together. So this is our short term plan, our long term plan is to find somewhere of our own, where we have more space to store all of our stuff in a more organised manner. We have a few different avenues to try and we will not stop until we find somewhere. I wont let this little hiccup affect the help we give the people of the North East. If anybody knows of anywhere that has free space that may be an option for us, please contact us. It has to be a long term solution, as there is wag too much stuff to have to move again. In all this madness, the outreach team still managed to get everything ready for Saturday night, so we will still be going out this week to see our street friends, however, things will have to be put on hold for the next few weeks until we find somewhere. This includes taking in donations, obviously we cant take any more until we have another place to put them. If any of our drop offs need things picked up, we can still do that and store them at my house until we get somewhere, so they arent cluttering up your premises. This is just a little stop gap in our story, we will not be held back by anything, because this is part of our lives now and its something we have to do, no matter how hard it is made for us. I believe everything happens for a reason and this is a huge opportunity for MWW to branch out on its own and become a charity in its own right. With funding MWW could go a long way and we could expand and help people we arent reaching at the moment, and also secure a premises of our own for the future without any worries. Thank you for all of your help so far, especially those who were there last night and just stepped up to the mark and got things done. You are all amazing, please bare with us while we work on this next stage of MWWs life, and please rack your brains for anywhere central that you think we could use! One love x
