Hi folks, Bob again. Vladimir Putin has just signed a new law in Russia banning foul language in movies, TV, books, music, theater and public performances, levying heavy fines on artists who break the new law. He considers this a positive thing for the Russian people by, in essence, “cleaning up” culture, arts and entertainment. I also know that Russia is a fairly oppressive regime that denies people the basic liberties and freedoms we enjoy here in America. Russia doesnt have “freedom of speech” or “freedom of the press” or most of these basic freedoms we tend to take for granted in our Constitution. I admit, the Christian in me kind of appreciates his desire to remove the filth and cursing from the Arts, but the American in me has a real problem with denying people basic freedoms of expression and speech. Obviously, Im a Christian before and American, but I dont think that has to mean I support Putin denying freedoms and liberties to his people because liberty and freedom is also a Biblical concept. So heres what Im curious about.
