Hi folks, On Harlans page there is a thread about work at least once as a bouncer in a bar! Well, Smart and fast ALMOST always beats BIG and STRONG. Now short, middle-aged, pudgy and talking big, wins nothing. NOTHING! Folks here are throwing a lot of different things into the stew that just are NOT supposed to be in the stew. Ive been training cops, bouncers, SOFs, bikers, and military folks for years and years and years and years, professionally. Wrote books about it. Given seminars on in. Have DVDs on it. blab, blab, blab. 1. And what cops do is different than what bouncers do, but sort of close. 2. What military combat troops do is different than both. 3. What bikers do is NOT what cops do or bouncers do. 4. What civilians do is vastly different from all of them. Notice that folks who train in the gym are NOT even included in the above. Why not? They just dont fit in paradigm, in attitude nor in skill set. They are dead-meat against any type of effective training. I know that through my experiences. About, work at least once as a bouncer in a bar, is a skill set of: 1. Knowing what is coming down before it comes down 2. Knowing what type of folks cause the problems in advance 3. Knowing some type of verbal Judo [talking skills based upon de--escalation through George J. Thompson verbal tactics of simple away-from language patterns] 4. Knowing how to team-up on a person and do walk-em-outs WITHOUT coming to blows. It is NOT about tough-guy contests. Theres more but thats enough. John La Tourrette PS Heres the 5th book in a series I wrote back in the 80s that is still selling well today...and some other books Ive written.
