Hi folks. Proud to announce that Dales will be officially holding their first road races next season! Today I had a meeting with the staff at Rosewarne Manor. They have kindly offered their premises for the 2 road races! The aim of these road races will be to promote cycling in Cornwall, and financially help youngsters from Dales cycling who are aspiring to become professional cyclists. The actual name of the road races are yet to be decided. However, having lost a good friend who passed away during a road race I would like to possibly commemorate him and name it the Heffernan Memorial road race but this pends on good old Bernard allowing this as obviously its an emotional subject. Official sponsors will of course be Dales and Velotive in Newquay. So lastly, the first race will be on the 8th March. And will kindly need a few volunteers to help out on the day. Coffee and cake will be provided by the Manor so we dont need to worry on that front. Its just help with car parking, and marshals on the 3 main junctions down at Leedstown. If any of you are possibly free to give up your precious time that Sunday for a few hours (0930-1500) it would be greatly appreciated. As at the end of the day, Cornwall needs this to promote road racing, and inspire our future generations to race on the road! Further updates / progress to follow.
