Hi friends, James Cole here. I hope you are staying warm and safe in this cold weather. There is a ministry in town called Open Table Nashville which works in many meaningful ways with our homeless brothers and sisters. Its the ministry that we raised money for last fall with our fall fair concert. One way they serve neighbors is that on nights when temps go below 25 degrees, they provide shelters for folks to get off the street. Sort of like Room in the Inn but for one night as needed. They have made an urgent appeal for help. With temps dropping below 10 degrees again tomorrow night, I have consulted with Trish Pendleton, our Chair of Trustees, and have decided to open our doors tomorrow eve for an Open Table Warming Shelter. Ordinarily, they provide transportation, volunteers, meal preparers, set up crew etc. but with the extreme temps and number of nights when shelter has been needed and number of homeless brothers and sisters Im not yet sure what all will be required of us tomorrow eve. Just wanted to alert you of this, and as I learn of what will be needed for the shelter at AUMC tomorrow eve, Ill be in touch pronto.
