Hi friends! Some of you are new here so I just wanted to give you all a quick little introduction and tell you a little about me and who Dora Lou is! Dora Lou is my grandmother who spent 60 years collecting antique and vintage silverware. It wasnt until three years ago, I was visiting her in California (where I was born & raised) all the way from Prague (where I was living then) -that she spilled the beans about her collection. I freaked out because A)-I had no idea. And B)-I just thought it was incredible something so basic as silverware could be little pieces of art so much that each one has its own story and name. And at that time a bond formed between my grandmother and I. Two years ago I moved to Portland Oregon with my husband & (now 4 year old) son, Blue. I had my firecracker of a daughter, Tulip and it wasnt too long after , my grandma decided it was time to hang up her collection and was thrilled that I was so interested in keeping it going. My grandma passed away a few months ago but she visits me in my dreams & never says anything but just smiles at me. Today I juggle raising two little people and this little collecting & repurposing business. Although I dont like referring to it as a business or work because its become something that I love so very much. Not one second of what I do is work! While everyone hates Mondays, I love Mondays. I also love any and everything pink and Im known for being the queen of donuts (with rainbow sprinkles). I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I see Him in every single success and milestone. Without Him, there would be no Dora Lou. Aside from my family and Dora Lou, fun fact: I have another shop called The Sparklette. Its there that Im able to fulfill my love for all things sparkly, funny & quirky. You can find all that kinda stuff over at the sparklette.etsy .
