Hi from overcast Ho Chi Minh:) Weve been following the tourist trail for the last few days, visiting interesting things like the reunification palace - Lassara and Rhys were particularly keen on this one, especially the guided tour: on the right we have such and such furniture and on the left we have more furniture. In the next room, special furniture..... Joking aside, it was the HQ for the Southern Vietnam Forces. We have visited so many markets, checked out museums, pagodas etc. People in Ho Chi Minh are not as friendly as the ones in Siem Reap - probably cause they are city types. Crossing the roads is like taking you life in your hands. We looked for locals and other tourists and crossed in a group at first. Lassara took stage fright at an extremely large intersection (I didnt blame her but had to put on a brave face otherwise we would still be standing there for days LOL). We have just returned today from a two day tour of the Mekong Delta. Very interesting and relaxing on the water ways. Toured a rice & coconut factory - delicious sweets. Had lunch at a farm stay - freshly baked elephant ear fish - dont knock it - was real goooood along with an assortment of other sea foods. Then off to a brick making factory where we saw the mud arriving and how it was mixed with sand, the whole process through to bricks and pots etc. Interesting but hot & heavy work. We stay in Cao Tho, a local holiday area and yes, you guessed it, visited more markets. I had my ear talked off by a man who wanted to practice his English, Rhys had his bottom smacked by a stallholder who said he was too big for their clothes and Lassara was touched up by a woman who was fascinated by either her freckled/hairy arms. This morning we visited floating markets and watched the locals go about their business. Back in Ho Chi Minh this arvo, we visited the wholesale material shops and bought some great fabrics, so that Lassara & I can have a go at making some dresses. Will try to update you all when in Hoi An. Luv Bridgeen
