Hi joe.. I use to call into your Dads shop Camden st in 1980 , i was 13...il never forget your dads generosity & kindness to me Joe....it was deeply touching. in the summer of 81 my mother passed away so from then on I kind of lived in your dads shop...I couldnt afford sticks or lessons so not only did your dad give me sticks but he also gave me a rudiment book & then brought me in & gave me free lessons....i was blown away by your dads playing & he influenced me in a major way, i just couldnt believe what I was hearing & seeing !! but it was his kindness that I still think of every time I pass by the auld drum centre....your dad helped me through a very rough time joe..........he really was truly a wonderful man...... I remember saying to your dad you should do up the shop & paint it in bright colours.....but he wasnt having any of it....I asked him why? he said his late sister had helped him paint the shop ( sky blue) & that was why.... . that goes to show in some way the measure of the man! even now 34 years later I well up when I think of your dads kindness & generosity ...I can see here on your page joe that a lot of your dads friends miss him & think often of your dad with great fondness & respect....well thats how I will always remember your Dad.... the Great JOHN MURRY.
