Hi, just wanted to thank you for letting me in to this group This is my dad, Arnold E. Howard, Jr. in (I think) 1957. Anaheim was celebrating its Centennial and had a beard growing contest - dad won (as Antonín Leopold Dvořák), at least I was told that. My family owned Arnold E. Howard Lighting on Lemon St., right off of Lincoln. I believe the business started as an appliance store & garage then morphed into lighting fixtures. It was sold in the late 70s to Thomas Industries, and we moved away. Sadly, I havent gotten much into my fathers side of the genealogy tree, but knowing you all have so much interest in early Anaheim makes me want jump into it! I know that my grandparents moved to Anaheim shortly after my dads birth (1924) from Oregon and started the business soon after that. Before that, I *think* they were from Kentucky and Missouri. For me, I was born St. Josephs in Orange, because, I was told, there were no hospitals in Anaheim at the time (1956), although I have never checked that out. I am now living in Sherman Oaks, but continue to have a close connection to Anaheim, as I work for Walt Disney Imagineering. I look forward to sharing and hearing everyones stories.
