Hi lovely ladies, It is time to send you an itinerary that is coming together more beautifully than I could have imagined! Although it is still tentative, more and more teachers have confirmed and it is looking pretty amazing (if I may say so myself)! Email me: dcoopersmith@aish for itinerary. I am sitting at a coffee shop in the middle of the Machane Yehuda shuk right now, watching the hundreds of passersby, men, women and children, Hebrew, English, French and Spanish speaking, people laughing, conversing, yelling on their cell phones: a normal, peaceful, busy Friday. I feel secure and safe, almost enveloped in Hashems embrace- and that is so not like me-its weird, but that is how I feel, like we are getting some compensation after last weeks terror attack in Har Nof. Some of you have asked about the security situation in advance of the upcoming mission. I just want to say, firstly, that I just taught a group of Israelis- one contingent of the JWRP: 400 unaffiliated women, from 8 different countries, who all came to Israel at this time, are walking to and from the Old City every day, are taking trips around the country, are going to the kotel, and are feeling safe and wonderful, showing solidarity to Israel and learning about Judaism at the same time!! It is inspiring to see these women, seemingly not committed, giving a message to their families and to the entire Jewish People: we will not give in to our enemies, we will come to our country and walk the streets of Jerusalem without fear, and we will overcome! On a more practical note: The country is now on high alert, which means soldiers and guards are everywhere and it is safer than ever! Also, the first few days of our trip are in Eilat which is a chilled, easy-going city which has not experienced any violence in years. In Jerusalem, if things continue to be tense, we will have an armed guard accompanying us everywhere, and the Aish building is more secure now, in accordance with security officials, army intellegence and the police, which are working closely with Aishs current CEO. But we hope things will calm down by then and life will return to (semi-) normal! Ladies, its going to be awesome! Those of you who have signed up and paid, please take the time to send me your passport number (I need it for the room reservations- so that you dont pay Israeli taxes) and tell me whom you would like to room with. (There is a single room option for an additional supplement). Those of you who are still undecided, email me dcoopersmith@aish for itinerary and sign up! aish/reconnect and then fill out the payment form below https://secure.bluehost/~npvnewsc/minisites/aish/application2_form.php please note, no American Express or Diners cards- my tour operator is not able to process them.
