Hi my name is David. I wanted to share my experience from working at Summer Camp through CCUSA and how it changed my life. My role was a general counselor and the skills I developed were confidence - in leading small groups of children around water, and just in general. How to get my hands dirty around children eg. muddy, dressing up for role plays, doing things way outside my comfort zone. Camp helped me learn more about archery, woodwork, high ropes, plus helped me gain river lifesaving and wilderness first aid qualifications. My current job is a graduate teacher (took a career change three years ago). How did Camp Counselors USA help me get to where I am now: Mostly comfort around children and youth, especially leading groups on hikes. It was a good stepping stone towards work and volunteer work on other camps and sporting programs once home, which further moved on to becoming a primary school teacher. Finally I will add that I now have a wife and two children, and I still share stories of my experience in America. David
