Hi my name is Elysia and Im a mum. I get things wrong all the time. I try and squeeze an extra 5 minutes in bed every morning when I should be waking my lazy child up bright and early with a healthy breakfast. I buy his clothes from Matalan, Primark & his bedroom textiles from Wilkinson. I went to baby group once and walked out after ten minutes. Sometimes I cook from scratch, other times we eat McDonalds. Sometimes I just cant be bothered to do the washing up so I try and leave it for as long as possible. More often than not my child is THAT child who screams down the restaurant, lays on the floor crying in town or steals your childrens belongings at the play area. I cry out of desperation. I have days where I dont want to leave the house. I sometimes count down the seconds until its time for Dexter to go to bed. But my little boy wants for nothing, hes healthy and infectiously happy; Dex is my World and I wouldnt change a thing about him :) I received what to me was shocking message last night that has spurred me to write this. Being a mum is hard enough without feeling pressured to strive toward a perfect ideal. Be comfortable in your own ability without following the How to be the perfect parent article on some viral sharing site. Youre not a machine. Youre a mum. A perfectly imperfect mum.
