Hi, my name is Lauren and Emily is my gorgeous daughter. Firstly I want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to Emilys fund privately and also to the beautiful people who have so generously donated to the GoFundMe page. With only 18 days to go until we leave for the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA, we are still $15,000.00 short of the funds required to see her through the assessment and/or treatment. We are so incredibly appreciative of the funds we have raised thus far. However, we are terrified that we are going to make the long trek to the Mayo Clinic, start the process of assessment and then not be able to follow through due to the lack of funds. Funds need to be raised to cover complex pathology (some single tests costing over $1000.00), pet scans and procedures such as bone marrow aspirations and biopsies and lumbar punctures. Not to mention seeing at least 7 specialists over a period of three weeks. On arrival, we have to pay $7,000.00 upfront to cover the initial process of walking through the door as an international patient. Unfortunately the medical fees in America are astronomical and we cannot get any government subsidies or assistance with seeking medical help internationally. We want to do everything we possibly can to help save our daughters life but we are struggling to do it on our own due to her ongoing medical bills from London and Australia. The US Dollar is not trending well and looks a lot more like the Euro, meaning a good 20% of what we have raised so far will be lost in the conversion rate. We do need everyones help. Beautiful family, friends and wonderful strangers. EMILY NEEDS 1500 PEOPLE TO DONATE $10 EACH to reach a figure which will cover all of Emilys medical expenses at the Mayo Clinic. Please, if you can spare $10 it will be going to a most gorgeous, strong and resilient young girl who deserves to live well and have a better life than the one she is living. A life without daily pain, countless specialist appointments, hospitals, tests and horrific side effects such as; mouth, nose and genital ulcers, joint pain in her knees, ankles, hips, shoulders, fatigue and sheer exhaustion after walking for 10 minutes, horrible rashes that cover her upper body and leave her hiding behind jumpers on a 30 degree day, severe diarrhoea, low blood pressure, dizziness and vomiting to name a few. We have been advised that our Emily cannot be cured but we are trying to find a way to suppress her disease so that she does not suffer vital organ failure or develop leukaemia which she is at high risk of developing. We will always be praying for a miracle to cure our daughter but in the immediate future, we are hoping to get her to the best possible doctors who can hopefully help her, at the Mayo Clinic. Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas filled with much love, great health, hope and happiness. Hoping anyone who reads this can help our cause........ Lauren xxxxx
