Hi, some of you may know that Rennie & I adopted a 14 month old - TopicsExpress

Hi, some of you may know that Rennie & I adopted a 14 month old pup from someone who could not care for him any longer, his name is Lucky. Hes Shar-Pitchow, which is a non-rare dog breed which some refer to simply as a mutt. We dont care what he is, we love this mutt. His breeding is only important because it helped us figure out what was wrong with our boy. We knew he had eye problems when we adopted him, we found out that his eye troubles were due to his Shar Pei/Chow heritage. It seems these breeds are prone to wrinkly dog eye syndrome, aka Entropion. Entropion is when the dogs eyelid curl in towards the eyeball scraping it with each blink. I know I stop whatever Im doing if I get a single eyelash in my eye, I cant imagine his constant irritation, and no hands or mirror to help. Lucky went to a doggie ophthalmologist [yes, I had to look it up] last week for an exam. We got some good and some bad news, bad first? Okay, he has entropion, both upper & lower lids turn in and his eyeballs are scarred --- the Good News the vet didnt see any ulcers [which could lead to blindness] and she has an opening for Thursday the 25th - we booked it! So basically Lucky goes in for a facelift tomorrow. We are asking for prayers for our lil lad, and were gently asking for donations to our Lucky fund. Were keeping his appointment regardless, but its a tough nut that we hadnt planned on, especially after just getting him fixed [yes, I know Rennie he wasnt broken]. The surgery will cost between $1550.00 & $1800.00, [there goes MY eye-lift!]. In return well post recovery pictures, not gross ones, but cute ones of an active dog wearing an Elizabethan Collar [inverted lampshade] for 2 weeks, while trying to eat or turn around. But the best pictures will be of him as a clear-eyed happy boy, ones where hes not always squinting, pawing at his face or tearing up. Message me or Rennie Grant if you can offer a little help, send prayers directly, thanks. Love Dona & Rennie
