Hi this stranger said to me sitting a few tables away from me. Hi, ...I had a feeling I should talk to you I replied as our smiles echoed and a wave of familiarity washed through us. As we began to share I discovered he had always felt left out and different and had worked as an accountant for most of his life until recently. (Completely relating in my own life with never feeling a part of what I had grown up taught to believe was normal and leaving it all to run Tribe.) He then realised he couldnt follow the rat race any more and began listening to what his heart had always been telling him - He stopped drinking, stopped working that job and after 30 years of hearing his intuition tell him to go vegetarian - he finally made the choice today. I was on my way to Hungry Jacks and the closer I got to it the more sick I kept feeling - so I stopped and told myself this is the day I go Vegetarian, I turned back and walked into Veg Out Time with so much fear about never being in a place like this or knowing what to say/expect He beautifully remarked how his friends couldnt understand his life choices and their concern was about how he would cope at BBQ get-togethers without beer and meat. lol. I have decided to surrender all of that, all of that I hold dear, and follow my heart he proclaimed. Namaste brother I say. Carrying with the words the essence of having made that same decision myself many years ago and now seeing that trust cradle me in its arms. (Occasionally the rocking gets a bit intense, but its usually cos I am holding on too tight ;P) Our conversation went on for about an hour in which he forgot to even take a bite of his food cos he was so engrossed at how quickly after making this decision, he was given the opportunity to meet a friend who could echo his open heart and understand him with where he was at. To me his presence showed the power of an event like Tribe and why I am doing it - firstly for myself cos the drive to do this is beyond me. But to see within him that this event is all about bridging that gap between people who are ready to step into their authenticity and connect with others who live in that place. To find true meaning and purpose in our lives together. He kept saying how his life changed forever in that one exchange we had - feel the sheer power of doing that with a few hundred brothers and sisters. Namaste.
