High Court halts private schools from hiking tuition fee Directs 90 educational institutes to skip September, October charges D A RASHID Srinagar, Jan 5: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the owners of private educational institutes not to increase tuition fee charged from the students. It also asked over 90 private schools that have been served notices not to charge any tuition fee from students for September and October months of 2014, when floods hit Kashmir and educational institutes were closed. A division bench of Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey passed the directions on a Public Interest Litigation following the submission by Advocate G A Lone that some private schools have chosen to increase tuition fee manifold. “Even the schools that have been served notices last year have charged the fee from the students,” Lone pleaded. “Till next date before the bench these educational institutes shall not increase the fee which is being charged from the students. It is further provided that till next date theses institutes shall not compel the students to pay fee for September and October 2014,” the bench said in its order while listing the case in second week of February.
