High School Student Summer Internship Program Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is proud to offer its High School student Summer Internship program, a great opportunity for high school students in the Los Angeles area. The program offers an opportunity to learn about the transportation industry while applying classroom theories and concepts to “real-world” work situations at the nation’s third largest public transportation agency. The five week program will start on June 23, 2014 and end on July 25, 2014. Interns will earn $9/hour and work Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 3:00pm. Eligibility requirements: • Be current Junior or Senior • Must be at least 16 years or older • Be in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher) • Have a high school ID or CA driver’s license • Be a US Citizen • Have experience performing office clerical duties • Familiar with Microsoft Office is highly desirable Abilities: • Read, write, speak and understand English • Follow oral and written instructions • Assist departments in completing projects • Maintain positive relationships with colleagues Job Duties: • Develops and maintains filing systems, record and logs including computerized database • Assists departments with administrative duties • Scan, email, fax and shred documents • Maintains, supports and promotes a safe work environment while complying with metro’s safety rules, policies and procedures Dress Attire: Student interns are expected to come to work dressed appropriately for a professional business environment. Business attire includes button collar shirts, ties, pants suits, skirts, blouses, dresses and slack. Jeans are NOT permitted.
