Higher Everyday Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Topic: RISKY RIDE Text: “And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives”. (Acts 27:10) In mid 2013, a wooden engine-powered boat sank into the Atlantic Ocean. Hafsat Zakan, a thirteen-year-o ld girl, was among the few survivors out of about 128 passengers on board. The boat was secretly ferrying illegal immigrants. They came from neighbouring countries to Nigeria en route to Gabon. What a risky ride! Similar stories have been in the news from North Africa where illegal immigrants ferry through the Mediterranean Sea to parts of Europe. For a youth to undertake any trip without seeking godly counsel, could be dangerous. Paul was despised and ignored by the ship owner. As soon as the voyage started, they ran into a harsh storm but for Paul’s prayer, the 276 people on board would have perished. Believers must avoid journeys at night, use of faulty vehicles and search for greener pastures, while seeking proper guidance and following legal process. It is ungodly to sidetrack the laws of any country (Romans 13:1-7). Endeavour to pray and take safety measures in your earthly journeys. In this journey, Jesus is with you. You are safe in His hands. Challenge: True safe journey is at arrival hall. Prayer: Lord, help me live by approved rules. Further Reading: Acts 27: 14-20
