Higher Everyday for Sunday, January 25, 2015TITLE :JUST LIKE JESUS. TEXT:“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation.” (Luke 17:20) In May 2014, Pope Francis and the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu argued over the language of Jesus. Yet, what language Jesus spoke - Hebrew or Aramaic – did not matter as concerned the lives of the people. This could not save anybody. Christ spoke holy language void of jesting, corruption, flattery, lies and sin. You too can speak pure and righteous words, without letting any corrupt communication to proceed out of your mouth. In Jesus’ days, the Pharisees wasted time on observance of time, genealogy, and historical debates, instead of accepting His teachings. Christian youths must avoid unprofitable debates that engender strife. Any debate over genealogy, family pride, and prominence does not promote the gospel and heaven for any youth. Some religious sects flatter their members with Church history and claim to keep a name in the world. They err, not knowing that only the righteous shall inherit God’s Kingdom, not denomination. Obedience to God’s Word will save you. Seek to be like Jesus. Challenge: It is not debate but a converted life that pleases God. Prayer:Lord, keep me from unprofitable debates. Further Reading:Matthew 12: 46 - 50. Quotation:Lord, keep me from unprofitable debates.
