Highley 1 Daisy Highley English 21 Essay #3 My Everything My mother has made a huge impact in my life. My mother has influenced me in every way possible. I do not know what I would be nor who I would be without my mother. She has always been there for me through thick and thin, she truly is my backbone. She has guided me through school, my future and life in general. Growing up without a father and watching my mother play both mother and father has shown me that I never really needed a father. Being a single mother raising two children on her own has proven that women can be strong and independent. My mother is not perfect and has made many mistakes but through all her flaws she has taught me the lessons I need to grow up and become something in life. Growing up it was just my mother, sister and I. My father was not present, but that did not stop us from being a happy family. My mother has been a role model in ways that a women can be independent and raise now three children on her own. She has never had to depend on welfare or child support to provide for us. She has never said it was easy but that it’s not impossible. She has raised us to depend on no one but herself, because the only people we truly need is each other. My mother has always been on my case to do good in school so that I will have a bright future. My mother only wants the best for me and always tells my sister and I that she does not want us to grow up the way she did. She wants a better life for us. I am not the type of student that will study during my free time and if it were not for my mother forcing me to study I probably would not have the 3.6 GPA I have been managing since ninth grade. If it were not for my mother’s wake up call I do not know whether college would be for me. College is very important to my mother. Like Marion C. Garretty once said, “A mothers love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.” Till this day my mother will make sure my sisters and I have food in our stomachs, clothes on our backs, and a roof over our heads before she tends herself. My mother is my hero, she is my idol and she is my everything. I am grateful to have a mother like her. I love you mom. Now that I am older and aware of what is going on around me, I understand that my mother does the things she does for my own good. I need my mother more than anything.
