Hilarious: The May 17 Bleacher Report, the May 16 Gossip on This, Fiscal Times, and most other media outlets reporting on Sports Illustrated’s newly-released Highest Earning Athletes List for 2013 made a special point of mentioning Tiger Woods downward slide on the list this year. Although Tiger Woods is the highest paid golfer on the list, with projected earnings of $40.8 million for 2013, he dropped to No.5 spot after commanding the No. 1 spot on the list for years. The list is based on a total of each athlete’s earnings, winnings and endorsements. Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. now holds the No. 1 spot with projected earnings of $90 million for 2013. This marks the second year in a row that Mayweather has held the No. 1 spot. As the Fiscal Times points out, what makes Mayweather’s total earnings especially impressive is that he did not receive any endorsement money this year or last. Endorsements, however, represent a significant amount - $33 million - of Tiger Woods’ projected earnings for 2013.
