Himachali Meethe Chawal Meethe Chawal is a delicacy that is made in different regions and is known by different names. The preparation style for it also varies from region to region. Meethe Chawal of Uttar Pradesh is traditionally prepared at my place during the auspicious festival of Basant Panchami. Himachali Meethe Chawal is slightly different from the one prepared in Uttar Pradesh. It is prepared during the festivals and weddings of Himachal Pradesh and as a part of the traditional feast of Himachal called “Dham”. Meethe Chawal is basically rice cooked with sugar/gur, saffron milk and dry fruits. Himachali Meethe Chawal has a unique preparation that adds a completely different aura to the dish. The use of Cinnamon , Cardamom , Fennel Seeds and coconut gives this Meethe Chawal a distinct flavour. Thank you Nidhi S Raj for introducing me to this wonderful recipe.
