With a bedrock of fruitful investments at its core, the business has historically demonstrated a conservative risk appetite. The business is currently ready for its next stage of development and requires a more sophisticated and developed shared services offering. This includes an upgrade to the companies Finance, Operations, IT, Administration and other shared services. We are currently looking for an energetic Chief Operating Officer to champion the operations of this publicly traded investment bank. We are searching for a strong Chief Operating Officer (COO) who is a Chartered Accountant and who can champion the fortification of the organisation’s core and will anchor the back and mid office of the investment bank in industry best practices. As a publicly traded company the COO will be responsible for IFRS, reporting, and compliance. A deep understanding of the regulatory environment in Oman is required and exposure to GCC standards is a plus. The COO will oversee the preparation of financial reports, submissions to auditors, external audits and preparation and finalization of annual reports and annual financial statements. The COO will be responsible for the maintenance of accurate and complete financial records. The COO will work with the leadership team to further enhance the MIS and to customize the right mix of KPIs for the business and its subsidiaries. The COO will ensure the company has the right controls in place to safe guard the investment bank’s assets. The COO will also play an active role in the subsidiary companies and will be responsible for the integrity and efficiency of cash, receivables, payables management and will be able to provide the exact financial position of the company, its subsidiaries and affiliate companies at any given time. The chosen candidate will have experience in preparing and managing the firm’s business plan, including revenue forecasts and growth rates. They will be comfortable preparing annual budgets and will be able to identify the timing and quantum of capital required, and will ensure any additional capital is raised. The COO will design and implement processes to ensure the company’s senior managers have the right information to set goals, make decisions, and monitor performance. They will ensure that business groups have adequate management controls in place and will develop key performance measures for each business group. In addition to the financial requirements of the role the COO will manage Operations and Information Technology for the group. Leading the vanguard of automation and business process re-engineering the COO will be able to map out the organization and identify bottle necks and possible future stonewalls to the realization of the company’s vision. The COO will have a proven history of reducing costs through process re-engineering and an ability to streamline operations. The COO will provide insight into shared service value creation. With full responsibility for IT the chosen candidate will be familiar with operating systems for Financial Services companies. Through IT the COO will increase the accessibility of information and ensure all departments are properly integrated as required via the business plan. The COO will help set IT departmental goals, objectives and operating procedures which link to the over-arching vision and strategy of the organisation. They will identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in house development. The COO will also over-see administration and operations.
