His Girl Friday (1940) 92 minutes imdb/title/tt0032599/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 This is a Howard Hawks movie, and stars Cary Grant, Rosalind Russell, Ralph Bellamy. Set in a depression era, mid-size american city (which is never named), the story centers around a divorced couple, political corruption, and capital punishment. And yet it is a romantic comedy. One of the most entertaining parts of the is movie is the dialogue between Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. As a divorced couple there banter would even work in today’s world. Howard Hawks’s movies were known for their pace, dialogue, classic appeal, and happy out comes (generally). All of his films are worth a watch. Especially this one. I’ve owned a DVD copy of this movie since it came out (I wore out my VHS tape back in the 90’s). Oddly enough this movie was remade (rather poorly) as Switching Channels (1988) with Kathleen Turner, Burt Reynolds, and Christopher Reeve. imdb/title/tt0096203/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Cheers!
