His Presence And Favour TEXT: LUKE 1:26-38 Key Verse : “And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women” (Luke 1:28). The presence of God denotes the absence of evil. Where divine presence is, there is also divine favour; they are twin-conditions born only by the absence of iniquity. God had sought a woman upon whom to bestow the greatest privilege of being the mother of the Redeemer and Saviour of the whole world. He found such a woman in Mary, a simple and chaste young lady who was pure, having good control over her tongue. God’s choice of Mary exemplifies the usual pattern in scriptures of the way God makes His choices among men. Noah was a just man and holy in his generation. He was chosen of God to preserve the then world from extinction. Joseph was different from his brethren; he enjoyed divine presence, he was promoted and highly favoured by God. Moses was the meekest of all men upon the face of the earth which made God to speak with him intimately. God uses men and women whose hearts are yielded to him. He wants to use every one of us too, but He must first of all make us good by taking away our sinfulness; He then goes ahead to make us who He wants us to be. You can be another favoured child of God today if you will turn away from every known sin and humbly commit yourself into His loving hands. Thought for the Day : They are greatly blessed and highly favoured whose sins are forgiven.
