His is being reposted from Dan Davis Facebook page in regards to the news about Medjugorje today, read all of it for clarification sake: With the letter from the U.S. Apostolic Nuncio regarding Medjugorje, I am seeing dozens of articles on the subject, but most of them show one side of the issue. That being said, here are some clarifications: Are official pilgrimages and events ( i.e. sponsored by parish or diocese ) regarding Medjugorje prohibited? YES. The Vatican is still investigating the events, so a diocese or parish cannot preempt the Holy See. Is there anything new being said in this letter? NO. It is a reminder of the directive mentioned above, which has been in place for years now. Were human and need more specific guidelines at times. Are the apparitions condemned? NO. Officially the Church is still in the lets wait and see mode expressed back in 1991. Are the faithful banned from following the events of Medjugorje or making private pilgrimages to the village? NO. The Vatican has emphasized this several times, sometimes to remind the Bishop of Mostar himself about this. Has the church made any definitive ruling regarding the authenticity of the apparitions. NO. The Vatican is still investigating the events.
